breaking the rules

with my upcoming move i've made a few rules regarding shopping for solsticehome.

1. buy nothing large
2. buy nothing heavy
3. buy nothing breakable

and then this past saturday i attended the monthly flea in my town....

i broke them all....

large...this brass and enamel floor lamp with the fabulous turquoise color

heavy... shipping crate with soft worn wood and fabulous typography on top...

breakable... antique mirrors with the most wonderful glass...and yes,  the large box behind them is filled with lab glass....

so, you see i really couldn't resist and they will all be in the shop soon,  unless of course,  i hear you want them first. send me a note if you see something you'd like.

Question for my seller friends...how do you control what you buy?  Do you pass up fabulous finds or do you jump in and buy?
happy monday

the portland connection...day 2

 portland visit day 2...

we headed out to visit some of portland's thrift shops...
and as usual  portland didn't disappoint ...

how perfect a vintage suitcase to carry home the vintage slide case, rolodex, lamp, coffee sack and model T headlamp.  yes, they'll be heading to the shop soon.

another delicious find for lunch,  they had great atmosphere & food...annoyingly poor choice in music

a little extra bonus, thursay was 1st thursday and many of the galleries held openings

there were so many talented artists, each with their own unique style...here's just a few to enjoy

an amazing piece...all these words and phrases were sewn on paper

and here's a little video i took to wrap up the evening...enjoy!

hope your having a wonderful week too!

tis the season...out & about

Out & About
it seems it’s holiday weekend on Cape Cod. Most towns are having their holiday strolls, tree lighting, open houses, and any number of old fashion fun family events.
If your in the area, cross over the bridge, breathe a stress relief sigh and take some time to enjoy the holidays.
You can head over to each towns web site or for a fairly complete link of the events in many of the towns here.

I’m looking forward to being in Sandwich with our grandson for a” Christmas weekend.”
We have a busy fun time planned. Friday night it’s Carol singing in town with cider and cookies. Saturday it’s off to the North Pole on the North Pole Express Train ride. Back home for hot chocolate and decorating the Christmas tree. Sunday Heritage Gardens is having an open house with a lighted walk to ride the antique carousel, crafts and fun!

Put the holiday craziness aside for a day or two and enjoy!

Sue
ps.. if you insist on shopping, sit by the fire, open your computer...I have added some new items to etsy.
