the portland connection...day 2

 portland visit day 2...

we headed out to visit some of portland's thrift shops...
and as usual  portland didn't disappoint ...

how perfect a vintage suitcase to carry home the vintage slide case, rolodex, lamp, coffee sack and model T headlamp.  yes, they'll be heading to the shop soon.

another delicious find for lunch,  they had great atmosphere & food...annoyingly poor choice in music

a little extra bonus, thursay was 1st thursday and many of the galleries held openings

there were so many talented artists, each with their own unique style...here's just a few to enjoy

an amazing piece...all these words and phrases were sewn on paper

and here's a little video i took to wrap up the evening...enjoy!

hope your having a wonderful week too!

SOWA Boston's Open Market

Sunday was a warm bright day, pretty much the perfect fall day for the end of October.

I managed to escape for a few hours and did something I've been wanting to do for a while, visit Boston's SOWA Open Market.
What made it even more special, was having my daughter with me. We’ve had very few chances to be out and about by ourselves the past few years. We actually made it to the last show of the season.
It’s already on our calender for next spring!
Held in Boston’s south end, with free parking! The Market hosts a wide variety of vendors, from hand-crafted accessories, original art, antiques or just a fresh loaf of bread, you'll find painters, sculptors, photographers, clothing and jewelry designers, milliners, handbag designers, house wares, antique dealers, florists, bakers, and local farmer's produce. Vendors have to apply for admission into the market, and vendors may change from week to week.
From what we witnessed, it would not matter which show you choose to go to. All the shows should be interesting and fun.

Here are a few of the items we were lucky to scoop up.

original painting from Mike Bryce
vintage green striped wool throw from wundercabinet.com

It was also wonderful meeting other Etsy sellers. You don’t often get a chance to meet other virtual shop owners. Especially nice when the chance meeting turns out to be someone on your favorite sellers list.
Best of show...we loved enhabiten's items..lovely!

Quick.. go add SOWA to next springs calender!

Off to find

One good thing that has come from the lack of having a
brick and mortar storefront is more time to explore and hunt
fabulous finds for my
web site www.solsticehome.com
and my etsy shop www.solsticehome.etsy.com.
It is also giving me the opportunity to visit some of the shops
and talented people here on Cape Cod.
Known for nurturing the independent spirit, Cape Cod is home to many gifted and skilled artists in all forms of media. The end of the summer season seems a perfect time to hit the roadways, byways and seashores. You might just find a treasure or two along the way.

ps; If there is a direction you want me to head in, let me know...
I’ll try to make that left turn.
