out & about...enjoy the beauty

yes, once again it's a snow day ... i've decided not to fight it..instead let's enjoy the beauty that comes with winter on cape cod.
some of the photo's were taken a few years back...but beauty is timeless..

rock harbor, orleans, and yes, that's a boat channel.

nauset inlet, orleans,  where the sunsets are amazing.

and the days can be crystal clear with that cape cod light.

sandwich boardwalk beach

and then there's days like today..when in the middle of a snow storm..you still have that incredible light

the three above photos taken today by me at the sandwich boardwalk.

have a beautiful day

I'm linking up this post with; Sarah's Beach Cottage Good Life Wednesdays... more beauty for you..

out & about....the sandwich farmers market

i took a little time and visited the local farmers market in Sandwich this week.

i'm so happy i did.  look what i found...

wonderful fresh, local produce

locally made natural products and the friendliest vendors

even their pups wanted into the photos

a really nice selection of locally grown healthy plants

an unexpected surprise,  a local meat truck, who knew?

the student who studies in boston but heads back to her hometown to showcase her handthrown pottery (this pottery was truly lovely, it  had a linen feel and look to it )

lunch being served

complete with a big tree to eat it under

a little morning delight and the best part..a sense of community.

if your in the area...it's held on
tuesday's  9 am -1 pm,  the old town common on route 6A, sandwich ma. on cape cod

do stop there..you'll be so happy you did.

Fromage `a Trois

and definitely try this homemade cheese..the best!

Have a lovely day
Sue

ps; do you have a local market?   i'd love you to share it with us.

out & about....on cape cod...green briar nature center

is  a one of the upper capes treasures

on the pond
run by he Thornton W. Burgess Society it is a non-profit educational organization founded in 1976 to carry on the pioneering conservation work of author/naturalist Thornton W. Burgess (1874 - 1965). Mr. Burgess, who was born and grew up in Sandwich, MA., went on to achieve national and international recognition for his children’s stories that teach lessons of conservation and love of wildlife.

 the old briar path
Over 170 books and 15,000 stories by Burgess chronicle the tales of Peter Rabbit and his animal friends.

Through these engaging stories, generations of young people have learned about the natural world and have developed an understanding of the importance of conservation of our natural resources.

i stopped by there saturday for their herb and plant sale
and was rewarded with the wildflower gardens in full bloom

they also run wonderful programs and camps for all ages, from toddlers to adults. i've sent my grandson to a few of the summer camp programs.

or you can  join one of the jam making workshops in the 1903 kitchen
their yummy jams can also be bought at the center or online

if your in the area, it's a perfect place to unwind, walk the paths, and enjoy the beauty

have a beautiful rest of the week everyone
sue
ps; have a place on cape you'd like me to visit...just give me a little shout..i'll try to head there!

out & about....the bear wakes up

i  love spring on cape cod.

there is a saying here "the cape doesn't have a spring"...but oh, it certainly does.

from it's quiet cave.. the bear starts to wake up from hibernation...slowly..

trees start to turn light green

daffodils start to poke up everywhere

the gulls start circling the herring runs

doors which look like they haven't been opened in a hundred years are freshly painted and swung open

the flags are hung out to  annouce the openings

and the still chilly water turns a beautiful blue green

hope you enjoyed this small cape cod tour...afraid there will be more ;)

Happy Saturday Everyone
Sue
ps: give me a shout...if there's an area on the cape to go... out & about for you..
